Displaced persons from seven families return home
Maungtaw, April 23
Some 46 displaced persons, including 21 men and 25 women from seven households in Sin Kone Taing Village, Yathedaung Township, gathered near the Mhowun Creek sentry-post, Maungtaw Township and informed authorities that they wished to go back to their homes of their own voliti on on 23 April 2018.
On receiving this information, head of Maungtaw District General Administration Department (GAD), head of Maungtaw District Disaster Management Department and head of Myin Hlut Town (GAD) provided rations and rice as initial assistance.
Those displaced persons were handed over to their respective village administrators at No. 10 Nyaungchaung Area Station, Yathedaung Township and the village administrators took them back to their villages by motorboat.

Local, foreign media personnel reach Sittway on way to Maungtaw
Sittway, April 23
Local and foreign media personnel arrived in Sittway on 23 April 2018 to check the ground situation for stability, peace, security and development, as well as observe the receiving of displaced persons in Maungtaw region of Rakhine State.
Some 13 media personnel from MNA, MRTV, MITV, TBS, TV Asahi, CRI, Xinhua, AFP, VOA, BBC, the Mainichi Newspaper and RFA are participating in the trip. The media personnel will collect news in Maungtaw region of Rakhine State from 24 to 25 April.

Rakhine State Chief Minister receives Taipei representative and Central Executive from Daw Khin Kyi Foundation
Sittway, April 23
Rakhine State Chief Minister U Nyi Pu received a party led by the representative of Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Myanmar Chun-Fu Chang and Daw Khin Kyi Foundation Central Executive Dr. Thant Thaw Kaung in the guestroom of the State Chief Minister on 23 April 2018.
During the meeting, they discussed matters related to cooperation and participation in agriculture and livestock breeding works for Rakhine State development, upgrading the libraries in the district and township offices of IPRD into community centres, conducting computer training courses and cooperating with the state government in providing information and knowledge to the people through the mobile library.
