Japan will help in the implementation of poverty reduction plans in Rakhine State

“The Government of Japan will help to focus more in the implementation of poverty reduction plans in Rakhine State.” Japanese Ambassador to Myanmar said.
At the handover ceremony of new school buildings, which were constructed with the assistance of the government of Japan, held at No. 9 Basic Education High School, Mingan ward, Sittway, Japanese Ambassador H.E Mr. Ichio Maruyama said, "The difficulties we are facing in Rakhine are the main reasons behind the development. So the Japanese government, in cooperation with the Japanese Embassy and JICA is now implementing the project on poverty elimination in Myanmar, especially for poverty elimination in Rakhine State. It will need to have better transportation, to get more electricity, to improve infrastructure. As a result, our cooperation with JICA, especially for Rakhine state economic development will continue to try.”
“With regard to the problem facing in Rakhine State, the international community is just criticizing. It is not Japan's position. We understand that the said issue could not be resolved immediately. We appreciate the efforts of Union government, in collaboration with the state government and residents. The Japanese government will continue to assist those efforts.” he said.
The Government of Japan is going to reconstruct elementary schools damaged by floods in 2015. It is learnt that the 33 schools have been completely reconstructed by the Japanese Government.
