Japan’s State Minister for Foreign Affairs visits Maungtaw

Japan’s State Minister for Foreign Affairs Ms. Toshiko Abe, accompanied by Deputy Minister for Social Welfare, Relief and Resettlement, visited Maungtaw yesterday.
First, they arrived at Kyeinchaungtaung Village and viewed houses which are under construction with the assistance of Japanese government. With the assistance of the Japanese government, 51 houses with steel frames in Kyeinchaungtaung Village, 50 in Oh-htein Village, including each community hall will be constructed for the two villages, it is learnt.
Afterwards, they visited the Hla Phoe Khaung Transit Centre where concerned officials reported on readiness for repatriation including for accommodation, security, clinic, mess, drinking water supply, electricity, roads.
Next, they visited Shwezar Village and viewed Islam children studying lessons. Ms. Toshiko Abe also met with local ethnic people, Hindu people and Islam people at the village. At the meeting, she told the villagers that the Japanese government would cooperate with Myanmar government in Rakhine issue.
And then, they went to Pantawpyin (Middle) Village and viewed the distribution of food to local ethnic people and Islamic people living in 12 villages under the program of Japanese government and the Food and Agricultural Organization.
